Live and Travel

Artist statement: The inspiration for this piece was how Indians had to create things from scratch and they traveled everywhere. Also I love the Indians theme like I love how they dress and there heritage.

The process to my piece is I started with the background than sketched the skull and feathers. Then when I did all that I put a different type of font for my words. The words say live and travel for how they traveled all over and how they survived through so much.

Artist Statements

My piece depicts a deer skull with flowers and vines and a cute little poem that has to do with natives and how peaceful they are. Also you can see in my background there are different types of reds and black mixed together to form a nice piece.

some tools that I have used was acrylic paint. I also used a hot Glue gun to create roses that you can actually feel. I used a type of glue to stick my poem down on my canvas board.

My inspiration for my piece is the native culture because I like how they grown up and survived all by them selves. I also love how they made there own weapons and there homes.

My goals for this piece was to have a nice looking deer skull with bright colorful flowers with vines coming around the horns. I also Wanted to have defined roses but that did not happen and I wanted my poem to be color full to pop out at the viewers but no I had to much dark colors so it would look weird

My thoughts on my piece I wanted it too look really realistic but that didn't help I also wanted it all too come together but I didn't think I did. So I wanted to to redo my piece so I could make it a lot better.

Peaceful

 Wind Chimes

My piece depicts four different sized roses and different types of feathers. What my piece is going to become is a dream catcher so you will see three different sized circles with different type of strings doing a lot of patterns. when that is finished I will start to add these little types of ball like things to my piece and have the roses and feathers hanging from the bottom.

When I was figuring out what to make I wanted to make roses. With the roses you had to have little circles and make sure there not so big but different sizes. Also when creating the feathers I used one of my feathers I already had to trace out more in different ways. Also using the tools we had in the art class room helped out a lot on how I had to cut out circles and cut out the feathers in my piece.

The idea of this piece is when I was younger I had a lot of nightmares.  My grandmother started telling me about dream catchers and how they keep away bad dreams and bad spirits. My grandmother has a really big one in her house and I always liked how they looked so I just draw dream catchers all the time now. Which I love dream catchers so its always great to have one so you know your okay and wont have bad things happen.

My goal for this piece is to have it where I want it to be. I also want it to look really nice when done being fired and glazed. So I can have it hanging in my room.  And know I did a great job if nothing happens to all my pieces.

My over all thought of my piece is i love how the clay hardens by its self and how it keeps it together so well. I'm ready to see how its going to turn out at the end when i put it all together and have a finished piece. I like how all my roses came out and how sturdy they are.

Be Strong

My piece depicts an elephant in the jungle. He is near a lot of trees but there is one that stands out it is broken so you can see in side the stump. The elephant is on its  two back legs. The elephant is angry and is showing aggression towards the trees. On the stump you will see hurt full words.

How I created my piece is I started with four sketches. Than you would choose which way you liked your drawings. Than when you finished drawings it out how you liked it you would get a canvas board and have to redraw the picture again. Than you do your background first and than start on other piece in your works and I made sure to add lots of layers.

So the big idea behind my piece is my aunt. She loves elephants so i decided to make a piece for her i choose this piece because she is having a hard time right now. But she is strong and I know she can over come anything that stands in here way.  See my aunt has had surgery on her arm she also had lost her job and is struggling to keep her house but she has been job hunting. So this piece is hers and I choose the elephant because the elephant stands for being strong and that is what he is.

The goal for my piece is to be a finished and great piece of art. I want to have this piece to be good and show how strong people can be even when they are having a hard time in there lives. I want this piece to bring tears to my aunt and show how great she is and how strong she is when she don't need to be.

The thoughts on my piece is I liked how it turned out and how well everything turned out. I also love how the elephant shows how angry he is on how things can bring you down but he won't let them. He is a strong elephant and will always stand for what is right.

Lumbee

My inspiration for doing this piece is because I had drawn one at the beginning  or this semester so I wanted to see if I had made better progress on my work. I also like headdresses so I decided to do another one and add a lot more things to it. The process for this piece I started with four sketches in different angels and see which one I liked. Than I choose my media and started to try different colors to which feather I wanted it to be.  First I started my back ground than started the feathers and than the face and banner. Than the words so I would have a finished piece.

The Arrow

The inspiration for my piece was I wanted to show how an arrow would look if it was coming straight at you from an angel. I chooses to do five so it would show them coming really fast at you. The process for this piece is I started with four sketches and drawn them down the way I wanted them to look like. Than I started to add different colors like brown, red, black, yellow some greens to show lots of natural colors.

Emotion

The inspiration for my piece was to show emotion. By showing emotion I made her eyes red and showing her crying.  I had to make her eyes pop out so you could see how sad she is. The process of making this piece is I started with four sketches and then one big sketch. I Made my piece on a big paper so you could see all the detail I put into it. Also to see how I made the dream catcher.

The Dream

My piece depicts a dream catcher with a lot of details in the circles i also have two lotus flowers. With the flowers its like they are blooming to become a beautiful flower and to show how much detail it has in them.

I used pen and ink in this piece so you could see some of the bold lines I had to use in creating the dream catcher. I tried to have a lot more details in them but if i got to close to the lines it would bleed together.

See my piece has to deal with tranquil which means calm or free from disturbance. So when things about dream catchers they are made for catching bad dreams or bad spirits. So I Put that in her because it represent piece and calmness. Also I put flowers because i am emulating Joe because he has a lot of nature in his pieces.

My goal for this piece was to have an amazing piece that you could tell right of the top of your head that it is tranquil because it is a calm and peaceful piece. But I like how it turned out.

My thoughts on my piece is I like how it turned out and how you can tell its a dream catcher. Also it took a lot of time and effort into this piece because I had to do it in class and at home so I could finish what I needed to do.
